The twenty-fifth Symposium on Chemistry Postgraduate Research in Hong Kong will be held at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on Saturday, 28 April 2018. This symposium will consist of a Keynote Lecture delivered by Professor Philipp Kukura (University of Oxford), an Oral Session presented by representative postgraduate students from six universities and a Poster Session. Postgraduate students who wish to present posters during the symposium should submit abstracts (both hard and soft copies) in the prescribed format via their institutional representatives on or before 5:00 pm, 23 March 2018 (Friday) to:

Oral Presentation Session
The Keynote Lecture and Oral Presentation Session will be held in the Citibank Lecture Theater (LT-A), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Each university will nominate one postgraduate student representative to give a 15-minute oral presentation, followed by a 5-minute question-and-answer session. Students should use the computer system (a windows PC) in the Citibank Lecture Theater (LT-A).
Poster Session
The poster session will be held in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Atrium and Areas outside Lecture Theaters (LT-A, LT-B and LT-C), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Posters will be displayed throughout the Symposium. The presenters are responsible for mounting and removing the posters before and after the Symposium. Each postgraduate student is only allowed to be the presenting author of one poster. However, he or she may be listed as a co-author in other contributions. Posters will be categorized into the following six major subject areas:
(1) Analytical and Environmental Chemistry
(2) Inorganic Chemistry
(3) Organic Chemistry
(4) Physical Chemistry
(5) Material Chemistry
(6) Biochemistry and Chemical Biology
Each presenter should indicate the area of his or her poster when the abstract is submitted.
The Best Oral and Poster Presenter Awards
The best oral presenter and poster presenters of six subject areas will be selected by a panel of judges consisting of representatives from six universities and the Keynote Speaker. The awards will be conferred during the closing ceremony of the Symposium. Award winners must be present to receive their prize.
Abstracts
A book of abstracts for the papers presented will be published and distributed to all participants at the Symposium. For submission of oral and poster abstracts, please refer to the Abstract Sample shown in the following page and note the following requirements:
- should be laser-printed on a white A4 paper;
- the text should be in Times New Roman Font (font size = 12, 1½ line spacing);
- two hard copies of the abstract (do not fold) are required;
- a soft copy of the abstract is required. Please prepare it as an individual Word file for each presenter with the file name in the following format:
“Category-Supervisor Surname-Presenterdoc”

Both oral and poster abstracts should be submitted via the institutional representative to the Symposium Secretariat by email. The submission deadline is 23 March 2018 (Friday), 5:00 pm.
